Rumor: Two Teams In The Running To Sign Odell Beckham Jr.

The NFL was taken by surprise when Odell Beckham Jr entered the NFL in 2014. He was an immediate superstar and dominated every DB who came his way. Fast forward to 2021 and Beckham Jr. has been released by the Cleveland Browns and has cleared waivers. The race to sign Beckham is starting to heat up.

The top destination for Odell Beckham Jr. to sign is Green Bay. Rodgers and the Packers are 7-2, with their recent loss to the Kansas City Chiefs coming without the star QB. The Packers are not particularly deep at wide receiver, but Devante Adams' dominance makes up for any perceived shortcomings. If Beckham Jr. can get back to an elite level, the Packers options will be exponentially dangerous.

Another team in the running to sign Beckham Jr. is the New England Patriots. Bill Belichick and Odell Beckham Jr. do not seem compatible based on their personalities and respective public profiles. However, it has been reported that Beckham Jr. has told his friends and family that the opportunity to play under  Bill Belichick is something that he has wanted for a long time. It is also rumored that Beckham Jr. has been in talks with former Patriots Aqib Talib and Randy Moss.

It is unclear whether we should expect Beckham Jr. to be signed immediately or whether negotiations will take weeks. Regardless of where his signs, could this be his last chance to remain in the NFL? At age 29, he is not a young receiver with his career ahead of him. His game has certainly declined in recent years and was a disappointment in Cleveland. There will be a short leash and much scrutiny from any team who opts to sign him.
