Steelers Hire Brian Flores As Lawsuit Continues Against NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced this weekend the team has hired Brian Flores to join the team as their senior defensive assistant/linebackers coach amid his lawsuit against the NFL.

Flores recently made league wide headlines as he filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL, the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and the Denver Broncos claiming he was discriminated because of his race in their hiring process for head coaching and executive level positions.

It all stemmed from the Dolphins firing Flores after three seasons and a 24-25 record, however the team was 9-8 in 2021/22 and barely missed the playoffs. The firing came as a huge surprise league wide and didn't make a ton of sense at the time. Seeing this lawsuit transpire is perhaps starting to shed some light on what really was going on.

Flores spent a decade working under Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots and held a number of different titles including the team's defensive play-caller and linebackers coach. As for his newest team, the Steelers had this to say about the hire:

I am excited about Brian Flores joining our coaching staff given his history of developing and teaching defensive players during his time in the NFL," Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said. "Brian's resume speaks for itself, and I look forward to him adding his expertise to help our team
