NFL Rumors: 49ers Continue to Discuss Massive Trade

Make no mistake about it, the San Francisco 49ers have been active on the trade market and mostly all of their discussions have been centered around quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Training camp is approaching and the status of the veteran quarterback with the franchise remains hanging in the balance.

Garoppolo has certainly heard all the trade rumors as the 30-year-old isn't shying away from reality. The 49ers can save roughly $25.55 million in cap space by moving their starting quarterback and considering there's been some concerns over the health of his shoulder, makes sense for them to test the waters. Garoppolo knows everything is out of his control at this point:

It's a long offseason. It's already been crazy with trades, guys going to different teams, whatever it is. I don't know, it's one of those things where I'm just going to let the chips fall where they may, keep working my ass off like I always do. When you do that, good things will happen to you. I'm not where I want to be yet. The shoulder surgery, obviously, it went well. Rehab has been going great, but it's a process. So, I knew going into the surgery what it was going to take to get the shoulder back right. I will definitely be ready. To what degree, I don't know yet.

The 49ers appear set to give the keys over to 2021 first-rounder Trey Lance and expect to see Garoppolo join a group of Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, and Deshaun Watson as veteran quarterbacks who have been traded this offseason.
