NFL Rumors: Baltimore Ravens Making Free-Agent Splash

The Baltimore Ravens are looking to upgrade their offense next season and have been in contract talks with free-agent running back Melvin Gordon; this according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Gordon spent the past two seasons with the Denver Broncos after a long tenure with the LA Chargers organization. The last two campaigns in mile high Gordon  has surpassed 1,000 scrimmage yards, while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. The free-agent back is a two time Pro Bowler who has generated a ton of interest on the open market and the Ravens are certainly going to need to ante up a substantial offer to lock in Gordon's services.

Some are surprised the Broncos would let a veteran back like Gordon walk as the team has brought in Russell Wilson to start at quarterback and he would likely love to have a security blanket behind him with a ton of experience. Sounds like Denver is ready to hand the keys over to sophomore Javonte Williams

As for the Ravens, they thought they had their backfield sorted out last season but that turned out to not be the case after Gus Edwards and J.K Dobbins both tore their ACLs. As expected quarterback Lamar Jackson led the team in rushing in 2021 and the team now turns their attention to bringing in some experience in Gordon.
