NFL Rumors: 49ers Quarterback Could Stay Put

All offseason, there have been countless reports that the San Francisco 49ers are without a doubt going to be trading Jimmy Garoppolo. Yet, as we inch closer to June, he is still a 49er. When asked by the media about Jimmy G's future with the team, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that "it's not a guarantee" that the 30-year-old will be traded before the start of the season.

Although Shanahan also said that expects a trade to happen eventually, it doesn't sound as set in stone as it once was. If they elect to keep him, he will very likely serve as Trey Lance's backup.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Garoppolo sweepstakes from here. Although several teams have been linked to him, it's clear that none of these talks have gone anywhere significantly. Let's see if that changes as we hit the summer.
