NFL Rumors: Falcons Extend Star Defensive Player

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett on a 3 year contract extension that is worth up to $51 million.

The deal will keep Jarrett in Atlanta through the 2025 season and reportedly has $34.5 million guaranteed. The new agreement will also lower Jarrett's salary-cap hit for the 2022 season. Jarrett, 29, was set to become a free agent next offseason.

Despite having somewhat of a quiet year statistically in 2021 with 59 tackles and only a single sack, Jarrett has been an important and productive centerpiece to the Falcons defense since his sophomore season in 2016.

Drafted by the Falcons in the fifth-round, Jarrett has impressively logged 26.5 sacks, 359 combined tackles, and 5 forced fumbles through his 7 year career while also earning himself 2 consecutive Pro Bowl nominations in 2019 and 2020.
