NFL Rumors: Eagles Sign Pro Bowl Cornerback

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed veteran cornerback James Bradberry to a 1 year deal that is reportedly worth $10 million.

Bradberry, 28,  has spent the previous 2 seasons playing for the Giants but despite being a productive asset in New York he was released last week due entirely to salary cap issues. At the time of his release, Giants general manager Joe Schoen commented that Bradberry could be a starting corner around the league but retaining his contract and services was simply unfeasible.

Apparently a number of other general managers agreed with Schoen as Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Wednesday morning that Bradberry received interest from 11 different teams before agreeing to terms with the Eagles.

Drafted in 2016 as a second round pick by the Panthers, Bradberry has had a relatively successful career and through 92 career games has registered 380 tackles, 15 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles. Interestingly enough, 7 of Bradberry's career interceptions came in the last 2 seasons and it was only in 2020 that he was selected to his first Pro Bowl. It definitely would appear that Bradberry is in the prime years of his career and that the Eagles secured a strong addition to their secondary heading into the upcoming season to pair with Darius Slay.
