NFL Rumors: Jarvis Landry Close to Signing New Contract

Free-agent wide receiver Jarvis Landry won't have to wait much longer to sign his next contract as reports have surfaced stating the Baltimore Ravens are heavily interested and are preparing to make Landry a contract offer. This according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport via Grant Gordon of NFL.com.

Landry knows the Ravens well and vice versa from his time spent with the Cleveland Browns, which came to an screeching end in March as Landry was cut by the Browns after four seasons. Landry was given permission to seek a trade before his release but unable to land a suitor at that time. Since being cut, several teams have reached out to the free-agent wide out and it appears the Ravens are going to win the sweepstakes.

Baltimore needs some help at wide receiver after completing a shocking draft-day trade by moving Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown to the Arizona Cardinals. A move that pissed off quarterback Lamar Jackson and frankly he may not be happy with the team finding Landry as the suitable replacement. The Ravens have also lost Sammy Watkins to free agency already this offseason.

As for Landry, the veteran receiver was a former second-round pick who spent the early parts of his career with the Miami Dolphins. He's hoping to hit the reset button on his career after a disappointing 2021 where he tallied a career low in receptions (52), yards (570) and only scored twice. Landry also missed five games due to injury so let's hope for everyone's sake involved he can stay healthy in 2022 and have a bounce-back season.
