NFL Rumors: Latest on Deebo Samuel's Future in San Francisco

The good news for the San Francisco 49ers is that Deebo Samuel showed up, the bad news is everyone isn't quite sure how much the wide receiver will be participating or how long exactly he'll be staying.

According to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, the 49ers are well aware of the drama surrounding him off the field as coach Shanahan had this to say on the matter:

We all know there's a lot going on with Deebo right now. We'll see what happens. I just had a great conversation with Deebo, so regardless of what happens, he's going to go out there and condition on the side, we'll see where he's at. Hopefully, we can figure something out soon. But we're in a good place for today.

Samuel is currently in the final season of his rookie contract and frankly wants to be paid. He's one of the best wide receivers in the game and as of now, don't expect to see the 49ers give up on their talented wide out. Contract talks have gone nowhere to this point, however San Fran's management is hopeful things can be worked out.

Last season Samuel racked up 1,770 yards from scrimmage, with 14 total touchdowns. His career season included six receiving scores, eight on the ground, and 1,405 yards in the air, meanwhile he tallied 365 yards on the ground.

If it's any indication based on other 2019 draft picks, Samuel should expect to be signing something north of $100 million in the very near future.
