Colts Release Former Pro-Bowl Running Back

The Indianapolis Colts have released running back Phillip Lindsay, per Ian Rapoport.
This is a bit of a surprising move, given that the Colts just signed Lindsay to a one-year deal in May. In addition, Lindsay was looking quite good in training camp and preseason.

Lindsay is already twenty-eight years old, so it's pretty unlikely that he finds any bigger role than a depth position with a team. This past season, Lindsay averaged just 2.8 yards per carry with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans. Lindsay is a former Pro-Bowl running back, putting up plus 1,000 rushing yards campaigns in 2018 and 2019 with the Denver Broncos.

Colts' running back Ty'Son Williams could slot into Lindsay's role as the number-three running back on the team.
