Jacksonville Jaguars Release Third Kicker Of The Off-Season, Claim Another

The Jacksonville Jaguars had their fair share of kicker drama during the 2021 NFL season, and even after changing head coaches in the off-season, it appears that hasn't stopped. The Jaguars released last years starter earlier in the off-season, and then cut yet another kicker after he hit a coach with an errant kick, and now, August 23, they've released their third kicker of the off-season.

The Jaguars have now release Ryan Santoso, leaving them without an active kicker on the roster, but in a corresponding move, they're working to add a replacement in James McCourt, who has been placed on waivers, with the Jags in the top priority spot predicted to add him later on Tuesday.

Jacksonville is looking to build around Trevor Lawrence, and while not having a kicker the franchise is confident in won't hurt you in every game, a good kicker can be a difference maker, and at this point, they're hoping that their fourth kicker of the off-season will do the trick. We will have to see how this one plays out, but at this point, it's tough to say, as McCourt isn't proven at the NFL level yet either.
