NFL Rumors: Raiders To Release RB Kenyan Drake

The Las Vegas Raiders are planning to release veteran running back Kenyan Drake, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

This release doesn't come as an immediate shock as all NFL teams are abided to trim their respected rosters to 80 players by the final preseason game, and a limit of 53 players by August 30th.

Drake, who spent his first three full seasons as a member of the Miami Dolphins and two brief stints at the Arizona Cardinals in 2019-20, signed with the Raiders last season and dressed for 12 total games. In his last two seasons he rushed 302 times for 1209 yards, 12 touchdowns, and completed 1637 total yards of scrimmage.

Drake's season came to an unfortunate close last year after suffering an ankle fracture against the Washington Commanders on December 5th, 2021.

It is possible the 28-year-old offensive back is picked up by another club before the start of the regular season as he could prove to still have some production left in the tank.

Las Vegas is looking to make a deep run this year after acquiring the likes of star receiver Davante Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers this past offseason, pairing him with his old Fresno State quarterback and best friend Derek Carr.
