NFL Rumors: Retired Wide Receiver Julian Edelman Considering Comeback

A former New England Patriots legend is getting the itch to return. Wide receiver Julian Edelman appeared on Green Light with Chris Long, and Long asked Edelman if he was considering a comeback. Edelman didn't say no:
Edelman retired following an injury-riddled 2020 season, missing 10 of 16 games. Before then, he was one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite targets, hauling in 4737 yards and 26 touchdowns over a six-year period where the Patriots won three Super Bowls and made a fourth. 2020 would be the first and only season he played without Brady.

A local hero in New England, Edelman inspired conversation about eventual enshrinement in the Hall of Fame, but his fame never really matched his game. The wide receiver never made a Pro Bowl in his career or finished a season in the top 10 for receiving yards. He's best remembered as a clutch and valuable playoff performer; he sports the second-most receiving yards among all postseason performers behind only Jerry Rice.

Should he truly decide to come back to the NFL, it'll be interesting to see where his loyalties lie: would he stick around in New England with the only team he ever played for, or would he try to follow good friend Tom Brady to Tampa Bay like tight end Rob Gronkowski did? Maybe it's best if Patriots fans never have to find out. It could be too much rejection for one fanbase to handle.
