Panthers Acquire Wide Receiver from Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are trading wide receiver Laviska Shenault to the Carolina Panthers, according to Ian Rapoport.

The return for the Jaguars has not yet been announced, but it's safe to say it won't be much of a haul. Shenault had a very solid rookie season, leading many to think he would be a star receiver in the years to come. However, since then his numbers on a per-game basis have declined significantly.

With multiple injuries to the Jags receiving core last year, it seemed Shenault was primed to take on a big role. That didn't happen, as Shenault actually ended up competing with fellow receivers Laquon Treadwell and Tavon Austin for snaps.

The change to a new team could be good for Shenault and Baker Mayfield could even be considered the best quarterback he's ever played for, but that's not saying much. Shenault is still only twenty-three years old, so there is possibly plenty of potential yet to bloom here. It will be interesting to see if he can find success on the Panthers.
