Update on New York Jets QB Zach Wilson

The New York Jets were very optimistic about their young QB Zach Wilson heading into the season, but not even one quarter into the first pre-season game, he came up limping after a play, which most suspected was a torn ACL which would cause him to miss the year. Fortunately, that didn't happen, and doctors expect him to be ready Week 2 at the latest, but a recent update from Dianna Russini is even more positive than that.

If true, it appears that Wilson is ahead of schedule, but given that the Jets see their whole future revolving around No. 2, it makes complete sense that they want to take their time with his recovery. Joe Flacco is a more than adequate starter if Wilson needs to miss time, and if holding him back one week means that he can fully recover, then most Jets fans would agree that's the right move.

We haven't yet heard anything from within Jets camp, so in the following days and leading up to the September 11 opener at home against the Ravens, we will likely know more, but right now, it's understandable if Robert Saleh wants his QB to completely recover before throwing him in against NFL defence's.

The Jets play the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, and if the latest update is true, it looks like that is when the No. 2 pick from the 2021 draft will make his season debut, with plenty of hope and expectation pinned to his shoulders.
