Colts Sign RB Lindsay To Practice Squad

The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Phillip Lindsay to their practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday.

Lindsay, a Denver native, who was signed by his hometown Broncos in 2018 as an undrafted free-agent, made NFL history with his dynamic play and was awarded Pro Bowl honors that season (the first undrafted offensive rookie player to do so). In that year he started eight out of 15 games, with 192 touches for 1037 yards, and nine touchdowns. Lindsay followed that season with dominant numbers again (224 rushes for 1011 yards, seven touchdowns, and 4.5 yards a carry.)

Since his first few strong years as a starting rusher for Denver, nagging injuries have derailed Lindsay's play. He was released by Denver after an unproductive 2020 season then played in two short stints with the Houston Texans (10 games before released) and the Miami Dolphins.

The 28-year-old offensive back signed with the Colts this past May with a subsequent release on August 30th during final 53-man roster cuts. He now has another chance to impress Indianapolis if a possible injury occurs throughout the season to one of the club's runners in the backfield or to fit in fourth on their respective depth chart beside Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines, and Deon Jackson.
