Eagles Defensive End Out For The Season

While Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett hasn't quite lived up to the expectations the team had when they drafted him No. 14 overall back in 2017, he's been a very solid starter for this team, racking up 21.5 sacks over the first five seasons of his NFL career. He was around for the Eagles first Super Bowl in history, and with the current team as deep as it is, the franchise has eyes on their second, but unfortunately, during the season opener, Barnett suffered an ACL injury that will cause him to miss the rest of the 2022 season.

This happened in the third quarter of the Eagles 38-35 victory over the Detroit Lions, and while Philly were hoping the worst news wasn't going to come true, it unfortunately did, and Barnett, a key piece of their depth will be on the shelf for the rest of the year. Barnett had just returned to the Eagles in free agency earlier this year, and was looking to take a bigger role with the team, but unfortunately, injuries do happen.

The Eagles are still solid along the defensive line, but injuries can derail the season for any team, so they will be hoping to stay relatively healthy as they look to push for another Super Bowl victory, but unfortunately, a key contributor in Barnett won't be with the team.
