Las Vegas Raiders Running Back Will Play in Week 3

The Las Vegas Raiders will have their star running back available after all in Week 3. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport revealed that running back Josh Jacobs will play in the team's Sunday afternoon showdown with the Tennessee Titans. Jacobs missed practices Thursday and Friday with an illness and did not travel with the team to Nashville. The team flew him privately on Saturday. Following a workout Sunday morning, he appears ready to go. He should provide a boost to a Raiders offense still in search of its first win this season. The Titans' 31st-ranked run defense should serve as a prime opportunity for the back to make a massive impact.

Jacobs is one of the few Raiders' holdovers from the tumultuous Mike Mayock/Jon Gruden era. Drafted 24th overall in 2019, Jacobs has proven a dependable if unspectacular runner and receiver for the Raiders, tallying 3993 yards from scrimmage and 28 total touchdowns to this point in his career. Entering unrestricted free agency in 2023 following his team declining to pick up his fifth-year option, Jacobs was likely hoping a career year might lift him to a significant financial commitment in Las Vegas or elsewhere. A big game in Week 3 could go a long way to building some much-needed momentum for Jacobs and the Raiders.
