NFL Rumors: Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott to Miss Week 4

The Dallas Cowboys have handled the unavailibility of quarterback Dak Prescott well, winning both of the games he has missed. They'll likely have to manage without him for at least one more week. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Prescott is expected to miss Week 4. Prescott injured his thumb in the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback avoided injured reserve, indicating he was expected to return within four weeks, which could put him in line to play next week against the Los Angeles Rams. In Prescott's stead, backup quarterback Cooper Rush has steered the ship for the Cowboys, leading the team to a pair of close wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.

The Cowboys have done well to keep their heads above water in Prescott's absence. Their defense has stepped up in a major way, allowing 33 points and notching an incredible 11 sacks over the past two weeks. The run game finally emerged in Week 3 as well, rumbling for 176 rushing yards on 30 carries. If Prescott can boost the passing attack in his return, the Cowboys could have a well-rounded team ready to contend in the NFC. They'll need to play their best if they want to keep pace with their undefeated NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
