NFL Week 2 Tight Ends: 3 Stars

The tight end spot is one of the most valuable in football, and each and every year, it seems like the depth of stars at the position is getting better, but as always, there are a few that certainly stand out as the best of the best. Week 2 was a solid week for tight ends, with a few disappointing showings, but with 16 great games across the entire weekend, there were a few performances that certainly stood out, and here are the best three of the lot.

3. Mike Giesicki

Stat line: 4 catches, 41 yards, 1 Touchdown.

Mike Giesicki has all the potential to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL, and while his weekend wasn't as explosive as teammates Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, he was able to reel in one of six Touchdown passes thrown by Tua Tagovailoa in the win over Baltimore. His role in the new Dolphins offence is still being figured out, but if he can continue to play a supporting role with this talented wide receiver group, he should no doubt have a career year and help the Dolphins become contenders in the AFC.

2. Zach Ertz

Stat line: 8 catches, 75 yards, 0 Touchdowns.

Zach Ertz has been one of the best tight ends in the NFL for a number of years now, and while his arrival in Arizona was slow compared to his prime with the Eagles, he's getting going now, and played a pivotal role in the comeback win over Las Vegas in Week 2. He wasn't able to get into the end zone, but with so many injuries at wide receiver, Ertz stepping up helped this team big time, and if they want to make some noise in the NFC, he'll play a huge role in that too.

1. Mark Andrews

Stat line: 9 catches, 104 yards, 1 Touchdown.

Mark Andrews and the Baltimore Ravens were criticized all summer about the lack of weapons for Lamar Jackson, but he, along with Rashod Bateman certainly put those ideas to rest in a Week 2 shootout with the Miami Dolphins. The Ravens unfortunately came up short, but with the likes of Travis Kelce and George Kittle either having quiet games or not appearing at all, this was a good chance for Andrews to put his name right up there in contention for best tight end in the NFL.
