Steelers Rookie Makes Potential Catch Of The Year In Week 3 Loss

Much of the talk following the Steelers Thursday Night Football loss the to the division rival Cleveland Browns will centre around Mike Tomlin and his starting QB Mitch Trubisky, but Pittsburgh do leave Week 3 with a potential highlight of the year. George Pickens has been underwhelming in his first two games as a rookie, coming into the league with plenty of hype, and after Week 3, the hype will be at an all-time high.

Early in the game with Pittsburgh down a score, Trubisky rolled out and tossed one up to Pickens, and what happened next was an absolute thing of beauty. A player won't often be defined by one highlight, but this is certainly going to help Pickens gain the trust of his head coach and offensive coordinator going forward, and if he can continue making catches like this, he'll soon become renowned as a fantastic wide receiver in the NFL.

This catch is being compared to the incredible highlight produced by Odell Beckham Jr. all those years ago, and while some may not see it on the same level, it's just as breathtaking. The Steelers would end up going on to lose the game and dropping their record to 1-2 to start the 2022 season, but it's safe to say that this is a highlight we are going to see over and over again for the rest of the year.
