Tennessee Titans Extend Safety Amani Hooker

The Tennessee Titans have committed to a critical veteran in the ramp-up to the regular season. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports the team signed safety Amani Hooker to an extension Friday morning:

Hooker took over as a full-time starter for the Titans last year, earning an exceptional 83.3 Pro Football Focus grade. He joins two-time All-Pro Kevin Byard to forge an elite safety tandem for the Titans defense. Both are now signed through the 2024 season.

Initially taken 116th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, Hooker saw the field in limited snaps over his first two years but notched an impressive four interceptions in his second year. He finally earned a full-time starting opportunity in 2021 and proved himself a key cog in a defense that helped the Titans earn the number one seed in the AFC. At only 24 years old, Hooker could still continue his upward trajectory and eventually prove a bargain for the Titans.
