49ers Release Veteran Running Back

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the teams hardest hit by injuries in 2022, and to cover the injury suffered by Elijah Mitchell, the team went out and signed former Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans running back, Marlon Mack. Unfortunately for Mack, just a few weeks later, the team has decided to part ways with him, as Justin Wilson and Tevin Coleman have done a fantastic job in leading the running back group in the absence of Mitchell.

Mack was drafted by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and put up a solid four years with the team, accumulating 3,000 all purpose yards, to go along with 22 Touchdowns, and while he's not a starter in today's league, he could provide veteran depth for plenty of teams out there.

The 49ers running game has been one of the most effective in the NFL in recent weeks, and with Deebo Samuel being a constant weapon in the run game as well, the potential is there for the team to run it all the way to the playoffs, especially with a healthy Elijah Mitchell. Mack however is without a job for the second time this off-season, but with plenty of injuries and struggling players, it's more likely than not that he'll be back on another NFL team within the next two weeks.
