Bears Running Back Trending To Play In Week 5

The Chicago Bears are one of the NFL's most surprising teams in 2022, as they've managed to work their way to a 2-2 record, despite clearly not trusting young Quarterback Justin Fields to throw the ball too much, so a lot of that success can be attributed to the defence and the running game. On that note, the team has had to turn to second year back Khalil Herbert as the starter over the past two weeks, where he has put up 234 yards and 2 Touchdown's, but now, it appears the Bears incumbent starter David Montgomery may be back in Week 5.

While Herbert has been playing well, having him as the starter shows a serious lack of depth, and when it comes down to the hard yards and crunch time moments, it's always a lot easier to rely on veterans like Montgomery. Not everyone will welcome him back, as he was struggling to find his footing over the first two weeks of the season, but if the team can find a way to balance the carries between he and Herbert, this could be a lethal combination in the backfield.

It's not yet been confirmed, but the Bears are optimistic that Montgomery can return against the division rival Minnesota Vikings, and if that's the case, Chicago should have enough offensive firepower to compete with the 3-1 Vikings as they look to climb their way to the top of the NFC North.
