Broncos Designate Star Safety To Return From Injured Reserve

The Denver Broncos have been one of the NFL's biggest disappointments through five weeks of the 2022 season, and while most of that is on the star Quarterback the team acquired in the off-season, some of it has been due to injuries to the defence, but now, they may be getting one of their biggest stars on that side of the ball back.

The two-time All-Pro injured his thigh in Week 1, and was placed on Injured Reserve before the season could even really get going, but now, five weeks in and looking at a 2-3 record thus far, the team has designated him to return from IR, meaning that he will now be able to return to practice, and hopefully in a very short time, the field as well. Simmons has been one of the NFL's best safeties since he was drafted back in 2016 in the third round, and along with Bradley Chubb, has been the catalyst for this fantastic defence over the past few years.

Currently, the problem in Denver isn't the defence, as they've been solid through five weeks, but with their leader back they're going to be ready to make the impact that many expected them too early in the year. Russell Wilson will still need to lead this team as a whole, but with Simmons back, this defence can take it to the next level, which is what the organization will need if they are to bounce back and compete in the AFC West.
