Browns Officially Designate Linebacker To Return From IR

The Cleveland Browns have made a handful of moves over the past few days, but the most high profile of them was acquiring former Pro Bowl linebacker Deion Jones from the Atlanta Falcons, and today, the team has officially designated him to return from Injured Reserve, meaning he can begin practicing with his new squad immediately.

Jones has been in the NFL since 2016, when he was drafted in the second round, No. 52 overall by the Atlanta Falcons, and while he's never been considered an elite linebacker, he's been more than a solid performer for Atlanta. Over that time, he's accumulated 652 sacks, 8.5 sacks, 44 pass deflections, 11 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 5 defensive Touchdowns, and he's going to be an immediate contributor in Cleveland.

The defence in the Dawg Pound was already fantastic, with Jadaveon Clowney and Myles Garrett wreaking havoc up front, while the secondary is all great, but the linebacker position was an area of need for Cleveland, and in Jones, they've got a new leader that can help take this defence from great to elite.
