Chiefs Acquire Speedy Wide Receiver

The 2022 NFL trade deadline is less than a week away, and we've already seen a few blockbuster moves, and today, the Chiefs have added to that, acquiring talented young receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants in exchange for a conditional third-round pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick. Toney has struggled to stay healthy in his time with the Giants, but when healthy, he has the ability to be one of the most explosive receivers in the entire NFL.

Toney has elite change of direction skills, and with that, he is a perfect fit in Kansas City who already have Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and with several years of team control left, this could be one of the best trades at the 2022 deadline. The best part for Kansas City? The third-round pick used to acquire Toney was a conditional one that came as a result of losing Ryan Poles to the Bears General Manager job, so they've acquired extra assets as a result.

The Giants haven't seen Toney on the field much at all in 2022, and given the increasing criticism the injury prone receiver has been receiving, it was a solid move to get an asset in return. The Chiefs don't play in Week 8 with a bye upcoming, so Toney will now get an extra week of rest, and if he is healthy and good to go, expect to see an invigorated player when he likely makes his Chiefs debut in Week 9.
