NFL Rumors: Cowboys to Start Prescott in Week 7

The Dallas Cowboys ought to have their franchise quarterback back on the field in Week 7. Dak Prescott shared Sunday night that he expects to start against the Detroit Lions this Sunday. Prescott has missed every game since Week 1 with a thumb injury. In his absence, the Cowboys turned to backup Cooper Rush, who led the team to a surprising 4-0 record until Sunday Night Football's collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite their successful record, the Cowboys offense has struggled without Prescott, averaging 183.8 passing yards per game over the past five weeks. Prescott averaged 293.1 passing yards per game with the Cowboys from 2019 to 2021 and even led the team to a first-place finish in points scored last season. Prescott joined the Cowboys as their 135th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Following a preseason injury to starting quarterback Tony Romo, Prescott seized control of the offense and led the team to a shocking 13-3 record. He has totalled 22217 passing yards and 143 passing touchdowns in 86 appearances for the Cowboys.
