Panthers Cornerback Misses Practice

The Carolina Panthers have experienced a lot of turnover and turmoil over the past few days, and they'll face yet another obstacle as they try to claw their way back to relevance in Week 6. Cornerback Jaycee Horn missed Wednesday's practice with a rib injury.

Horn exited in the second half of the Panthers' Week 5 37-15 thrashing at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Despite his team's struggles, the second-year cornerback had been off to a splendid start to the season, allowing a minuscule 37.5 passer rating to throws in his direction.

The Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule this week due after a disappointing 1-4 start to the season, but Horn and the pass defense have actually held up their end of the bargain. The Panthers rank 11th in net yards per passing attempt allowed through five weeks.

Horn joined the Panthers as their eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He immediately established himself as one of the league's most promising defensive backs, allowing a 39.6 passer rating on throws in his direction as a rookie. However, a foot injury cut short his fast start after three games, and he missed the remainder of the 2021 season.

Horn has returned in 2022 with a vengeance so far. Hopefully, his latest ailment won't hold him out for long. The Panthers face the reeling Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.
