Panthers Unlikely To Trade Star Receiver

The Carolina Panthers have now moved both Christian McCaffrey and Robbie Anderson after their dreadful 1-5 start to the 2022 NFL season, and while many are now expecting star receiver D.J. Moore to follow suit, reports from ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler states that they see him in the same way as Brian Burns, as a 'foundational piece' for the future of the organization.

Whether that's true or not, the team is still going to get plenty of calls on Moore, as he has had three straight seasons of over 1,000 yards receiving, and at this point, it's hard to see him being completely untouchable, especially if a team like the Giants, Jets or Ravens come calling with an offer that could blow them away. Even in a fire sale, the Panthers can't sell everyone, but if they can somehow get multiple first round picks or a young star in return, it's hard to see them walking away from a deal.

Despite the talent that this team had, they just couldn't put it together early in 2022, and while the future may not be as bleak as many see, the franchise may just need to bite the bullet and deal Moore, and then start over from scratch with as many assets as possible. For now though, it appears the team is heading into the November 1 trade deadline with no intentions of dealing their star receiver, who would then have to deal with the strange QB situation of Mayfield, Darnold and Walker going forward.
