Saints Confirm Starting QB For Week 8

The New Orleans Saints had their eyes set on an NFC playoff spot when the 2022 NFL season began, but battling through injuries, they've not quite managed to get rolling at any point during this season, and after missing three games due to injury, the team believed that getting Jameis Winston back could help kickstart that momentum. Unfortunately, the team has since pivoted, and today, the team confirmed the rumours we've been hearing for weeks, officially benching Winston in favour of Andy Dalton, who will now be QB1 going forward, starting this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Dalton has started the last four weeks in Winston's absence, and many were wondering when the QB change would come, but after some solid performances, it appears Head Coach Dennis Allen believes that the former Bengal and Cowboys start is the better option to win them games going forward. Dalton had an up and down night in the Week 7 loss to Arizona, with a solid 4 Touchdowns accompanied by 3 Interceptions, but clearly, Winston hasn't been forcing himself back into the starting role at practice either.

The Saints are currently sitting at 2-5 and in last place in the NFC South, but with no one above .500 in the division, they've got a good chance to make a run and still get into the playoffs, and it appears Dalton is the one that gives them the best chance, but we will continue to keep an eye on how this situation unfolds going forward.
