Vikings Provide Update on Safety Following Frightening Leg Injury

Minnesota Vikings safety Lewis Cine appears to have a long road to recovery ahead of him. The team announced that their rookie will remain in London, England as he awaits a Tuesday procedure on a fracture in his leg.

Cine's leg bent unnaturally while blocking for a punt in the first quarter of the Vikings' 28-25 victory over the New Orleans Saints at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He was fitted for an air cast and rushed to a local hospital where he quickly underwent a preparatory procedure. A member of the Vikings medical staff will remain with the safety in London until he is ready to return. Cine will be required to stay in England following the surgery for the first portion of his recovery.

Cine joined the Vikings as their 32nd overall pick earlier this year in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has played sparingly thus far in his career, tallying 36 total snaps across special teams and defense across his first three appearances. Hopefully, he'll make a full recovery and get the chance to make a healthy return in the 2023 season.
