49ers Designate Running Back To Return From Injured Reserve

The San Francisco 49ers made the huge move to go at get Christian McCaffrey at the trade deadline, and it's been incredible so far, with the former Panther putting up amazing numbers, and now, they'll add to their two headed monster in the backfield. Former starter Elijah Mitchell has now been designated to return to practice off Injured Reserve, and with Deebo Samuel and George Kittle on this offence, it's no doubt ready to take off to a high level.

This doesn't yet mean that Mitchell is ready to return to the field, but he now has a 21-day window in which to return to the field, but it's a good sign that he could potentially be active and ready to contribute in Week 10 when the 49ers take on the Los Angeles Chargers in what could be a very tough contest.

In his rookie season of 2021, Mitchell put up over 1,000 All-Purpose yards to go along with 6 Touchdowns, and even with McCaffrey now in the backfield, there's no doubting that he's going to contribute in a certain way going forward, and we will keep an eye on his progress to determine when that return will come.
