Cardinals Offer Update on Wide Receiver

The Arizona Cardinals took a positive step towards competitiveness with Week 10's 27-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams, and now they have more to look forward to. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury revealed at a Monday press conference that wide receiver Marquise Brown was day-to-day and could return as soon as this week.

Brown has been unavailable since suffering a foot injury in the Cardinals' Week 6 19-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He remains the team's leading receiver despite the three missed games, nabbing 43 receptions for 485 yards in his seven appearances.

The bye that Kingsbury refers to doesn't take place until Week 13, so the head coach is giving himself plenty of wiggle room. The timeline he lays out likely means Brown is on the wrong side of questionable this week, but at 4-6, the Cardinals have a perilously thin margin of error if they want to make the playoffs. They'll need Brown back sooner than later.

Brown joined the Cardinals this past offseason in a dramatic trade with the Baltimore Ravens that included a first-round pick. The former 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft totalled 195 receptions for 2361 yards in three seasons with the Ravens. When fully recovered, he'll form a deadly pass-catching tandem with recently returned wide receiver Deandre Hopkins, who missed the first six games of the season because of a suspension.
