NFL Rumors: 49ers Could Be Without 3 Starting Defensive Linemen in Week 10
The San Francisco 49ers could find themselves perilously thin in the trenches for their Sunday Night Football matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. Defensive linemen Arik Armstead and edge rusher Samson Ebukam both missed their third-straight practices on Friday.
Armstead and Ebukam join Javon Kinlaw as starters along the defensive line who might not be available for the 49ers on Sunday. Kinlaw was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in the team's Week 3 11-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. No Samson Ebukam or Arik Armstead at the start of the 49ers’ practice. Ebukam played his typical number of snaps in Week 9's dominant 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams, totalling three tackles. He appeared on the injury report this week with quadriceps and Achilles issues. Armstead has been out since Week 4 due to lingering foot and ankle injuries.
Despite three decisive victories in the NFC West, the 49ers find themselves 4-4 and behind the 6-3 Seattle Seahawks for the top spot in the division. A loss against the Chargers would throw a serious wrench in the team's playoff hopes.
