NFL Rumors: Rams Running Back Could Return To Practice This Week

The Los Angeles Rams have been struggling through the early parts of the 2022 NFL season, and while many factors go into that, the drama surrounding disgruntled running back Cam Akers has more than likely played a part. A few weeks ago, the team announced he would be missing practice and games due to personal reasons, before Akers officially requested a trade, but as the Tuesday NFL Trade Deadline came and went, he was still a member of the Rams, who sincerely hoped that a deal could be worked out by both sides to get him on the field once more.

While Akers belief was that he wouldn't step foot on the field for LA ever again, them not moving him at the deadline changes things, and now, Head Coach Sean McVay has indicated that there's a chance he could return to practice this week. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and neither parties will guarantee anything for their upcoming game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it's a good sign that both sides appear to be talking about a return.

According to reports, Akers was back at the Rams facility today, and with an improved 1-2 punch at running back, this team would certainly have a great chance of turning around the season, but right now, it's just talk, and nothing has come to fruition yet, so it's a situation certainly worth keeping an eye on.
