NFL Rumors: Titans Quarterback Expected Back for Week 9

The Tennessee Titans clawed out a tough 17-10 win over the Houston Texans in Week 8, and they did it without the help of their starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. They should be back to full strength when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. Chiefs coach Steve Spagnulo let slip he expects Tannehill back for Sunday's game. Tannehill missed this past Sunday's contest due to an ankle injury suffered in a Week 7 19-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Backup quarterback Malik Willis proved a substantial downgrade in his relief start, completing only six passes on his 13 dropbacks for 40 net passing yards and an interception.

Meanwhile, Tannehill has been steady if unexceptional for the Titans this season, netting 987 passing yards over his six appearances while turning the ball over four times. The Titans offense ranks 32nd in yards gained despite running back and AFC Offensive Player of the Month Derrick Henry leading the league in rushing yards per game.

If Tannehill returns, he should increase his team's chance against a Chiefs team that is favored by a massive 12.5 points. The Titans actually dominated the Chiefs when they last played in 2021, winning 27-3 while holding quarterback Patrick Mahomes to 175 net passing yards and two turnovers.
