Packers Work Out Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers are scrambling following their seventh loss of the season, and they've begun to look outside their own roster for answers. The team worked out wide receiver Geronimo Allison on Tuesday. Allison formerly played for the Packers from 2016 to 2019, totalling 1045 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He sat out the 2020 season due to the pandemic before returning with the Detroit Lions in 2021 for three catch-less games. He has yet to play a regular season snap this year.

Allison is a familiar face for the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, so he should at least be able to get up to speed quickly should he join the organization. However, even at the peak of his powers, he wasn't a huge difference-maker. He's unlikely to turn around a Packers offense that ranks 26th in the league in scoring.

Allison initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Packers in 2016 after two years with Illinois in which he totalled 1480 receiving yards and eight touchdowns across 23 appearances. His best season as a professional came in 2018; he set career highs with 303 receiving yards and 10.1 yards per target.
