Saints Rookie Expected To Be Activated This Week

The New Orleans Saints have seen an incredible breakout season from their first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in wide receiver Chris Olave, but they've yet to see their other first-round draft pick in offensive tackle Trevor Penning, who was placed on Injured Reserve back on September 1st.

Now, it appears that he is on the verge of making his NFL debut, as the Saints are preparing to activate him off Injured Reserve, and while that may not mean that he's available to play in Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers, it's one massive step towards Penning's NFL debut.

Trevor made headlines in the off-season, after he got into an altercation in three straight practices at training camp, and while that may be a positive for his aggressiveness and toughness, it certainly rubbed some people the wrong way. Either way, New Orleans see him as a key piece on this line going forward, so if they can get him active for at least seven weeks to finish the season, they'll get a clearer idea of what they have in Penning.
