Saints' Star Cornerback to Miss Week 12

The New Orleans Saints will be without their star defensive back for at least another week. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore is officially inactive for today's showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. Lattimore has missed the previous six games with a lingering abdomen injury. The four-time Pro Bowler had been off to one of the best starts to a season of his career, limiting opposing quarterbacks to a pathetic 65.5 passer rating on throws in his direction.

Lattimore's absence has coincided with a 2-4 record for the Saints over their last six games. Now at 4-7, the Saints may be in line for a deadly blow to their postseason chances with a loss against the 6-4 49ers this week. The NFC West leaders have scored 30.3 points per game in newly-acquired running back Christian McCaffrey's three starts this year.

Lattimore initially joined the Saints as their 11th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He immediately announced himself as a star in the league with a Defensive Rookie of the Year winning first season. The Saints made him one of the league's highest-paid cornerbacks with a five-year, $97 million extension early in the 2021 season.
