Saints Star Linebacker Undergoes Surgery

He suffered an ankle injury in Week 9's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Now, according to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Saints, linebacker Pete Werner underwent surgery on his ankle. He's reportedly ahead of schedule and hopeful to play again this season.

The loss of Werner is a massive blow to the Saints, as he has been a phenomenal defensive player when healthy this season.

In nine games this year, Werner has 74 total tackles, two forced fumbles and three passes defended. With the Saints at 3-7, last place in the NFC South, it would appear they would not want to rush their young stud back and risk further injury on a lost season, but that remains to be seen.

The twenty-three-year-old linebacker is a former second-round pick by the Saints in the 2021 NFL Draft.
