49ers Jimmy Garoppolo Hints At Increased Role For Running Back This Week

There's a good chance we see the rookie have an increased role in Week 13.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo hinted on Friday that running back Jordan Mason will see a larger role in Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

When asked about Mason's performance in Week 12's victory over the New Orleans Saints, Garoppolo said, ''He makes it tough on defenses and I think those are body blows that wear on you in the fourth quarter, so it'll be interesting to see a full game with him.''

Christian McCaffrey is reportedly good to go after suffering an injury scare in last week's game, so he will undoubtedly lead the 49ers' backfield. However, with Elijah Mitchell done for the season with a knee injury, it seems likely that Mason absorbs some, if not all, of Mitchell's workload moving forward.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but given Garoppolo's comments, it appears Mason will definitely get a chance to prove himself.

In 10 games this season, the twenty-three-year-old has 46 rushing yards on 10 attempts.
