Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Added to Injury Report

The Cleveland Browns had an unpleasant surprise on their Thursday injury report. Wide receiver Amari Cooper participated in a limited capacity during today's session because of a hip injury, casting doubt over his health for Sunday's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Cooper played a typical number of snaps in the Browns' Week 13 27-14 win over the Houston Texans, nabbing four of his nine targets for 40 yards. He leads the Browns this year in receptions (61), yards (832), and touchdowns (seven) in 12 games.

Any lingering injury that interferes with Cooper's ability to produce this week could be deadly for a Browns offense trying to find its footing in time for a desperate playoff push. The Browns totalled six offensive points and 14 first downs in quarterback Deshaun Watson's debut against his former team. A similar performance against the Bengals could cost the Browns their last chance at the postseason.

Cooper joined the Browns via trade with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year. The Browns exchanged a 2022 fifth-round pick and sixth-round pick for Cooper and a Cowboys 2022 sixth-round pick. He's already proven an absolute. He's on pace for the sixth 1000-yard season of his career.
