Falcons To Make Starting Quarterback Change

The Marcus Mariota experiment has finally come to an end.

The Atlanta Falcons are planning to make Desmond Ridder the team's new starting quarterback after their Week 14 bye. He will make his NFL debut on Dec. 18 against the New Orleans Saints.

The move has been expected for a while now, as the Falcons have lost four of their last five games heading into the bye week, with Mariota sporting a 59 completion percentage and five touchdowns with three interceptions over the stretch.

Ridder is a similar type of player to Mariota, in the way that he is a mobile dual-threat. Regardless, the Falcons are hoping that a change at the position will help to jumpstart their atrocious offense.

The twenty-three-year-old has yet to play in a regular season NFL game. He was the Falcons' third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
