Green Bay Packers Release Veteran Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers are set to release Sammy Watkins, according to Tom Pelissero.

Watkins has appeared in nine games for the Packers this season, where he has zero touchdowns, 13 receptions, and 206 receiving yards. Overall, when utilized, he has not made the biggest of impacts, so perhaps this move is not particularly surprising.

Watkins could get some attention on the waiver wire, however. Keep in mind, he is a nine-year veteran who could be useful for a team in need of WR depth. Alas, let's see what happens with Watkins from here.
