Houston Texans Corner to Miss Week 14

The Houston Texans will be without the jewel of their 2022 NFL Draft class for at least one more week. The team declared cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. out for their Week 14 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Stingley has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury suffered in the Texans' 24-16 Week 10 loss to the New York Giants. He has totalled 43 tackles in nine starts this year, allowing an impressive 78.4 passer rating on throws in his direction.

Stingley's absence is one of several that will likely sabotage the Texans this Sunday against the Cowboys. At 1-10-1, the Texans were longshots even before Stingley and starting wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins were declared out. Barring a miraculous performance, the Texans are likely in store for a thrashing.

Stingley joined the Texans as their third-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after three years at LSU. He burst onto the scene with a sensational freshman season for the undefeated 2019 NCAA Champion Tigers, notching six interceptions and 15 pass deflections in 15 appearances. He's been destined for stardom ever since.
