Injury Update On Vikings Tight End

He's been out since Week 8.

Minnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith was present for the team's practice session on Thursday and was seen jogging off to the side with the team's training staff.
The Vikings have not yet designated Smith to return from the injured reserve, and are unlikely to this week, but the tight end's return to workout and practice in a limited fashion is a good step.

Smith suffered a high-ankle sprain back on Oct. 30 and was given a 4-8 week timeline to recover. The twenty-four-year-old is just over five weeks removed from the injury and looks to be trending towards returning near the midpoint of that timeframe.

Before suffering his ankle injury, Smith had been having a decent season, catching 22 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns through the first seven games of the season.
