Jacksonville Jaguars Expect QB Lawrence to Play in Week 14

The Jacksonville Jaguars should have the cornerstone of their franchise available when they take the field against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to start on Sunday despite missing two practices this week with an ankle injury. Lawrence twisted his ankle in the Jaguars' Week 13 40-14 loss to the Detroit Lions. The injury initially looked severe and potentially even season-ending, but Lawrence eventually returned and finished the game.

Lawrence's availability should give the Jaguars a solid chance at competing with the AFC South-leading Titans this week, though he hasn't distinguished himself against his division rival so far. The Titans crushed the Jaguars 57-19 over two games in 2021, and Lawrence threw for 440 net passing yards and an abysmal five interceptions.

Lawrence initially joined the Jaguars as their first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Dubbed by some as one of the greatest quarterback prospects of all time, Lawrence won an NCAA championship with Clemson in 2018 while throwing for 10098 yards and 98 touchdowns over three seasons. A talent-deprived Jaguars team has kept him from living up to his lofty billing through two seasons in the pros: he has thrown 23 interceptions in 29 appearances while averaging 223.3 passing yards per game and an 80.4 passer rating.
