Los Angeles Rams Claim Defensive Tackle Off Waivers

The Los Angeles Rams are running out the clock on a disastrous 2022 regular season, but that doesn't mean they're beyond improving the margins of the roster. They successfully claimed defensive tackle Larrell Murchison off of waivers Monday afternoon.
Murchison played five games for the Tennessee Titans this season before being waived, totalling two tackles while rotating in along the defensive line and playing special teams. He has appeared in 26 games over the previous three years with the Titans.

Murchison isn't likely to radically transform the fortunes of the 4-9 Rams, but he still has one year left on his rookie contract. He could hypothetically get a head start on learning the playbook and give himself a chance to bring something to the team in 2023.

Murchison entered the league as the Titans' 174th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He appeared in 25 games for the North Carolina State Wolfpack, notching 11 sacks and 20 tackles for loss. He demonstrated solid physical tools and explosiveness at the NFL Combine and still has time to grow into an effective rotational pass rusher at defensive tackle.
