New Orleans Saints Cornerback Expected to Miss MNF

The New Orleans Saints will be without one of their defensive stars for their crucial NFC South showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccanneers on Monday Night Football. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore is expected to miss tonight's game with an abdomen injury.

Lattimore has missed the last seven games with the lingering abdomen injury. He logged 15 tackles and two passes defended in his five appearances before the injury. In missing tonight's game, he'll fail to add another chapter to his long-standing rivalry with Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans; the two were ejected for brawling in the teams' Week 2 matchup.

Lattimore is one of the Saints' essential defenders. The team has lost five of seven games during his absence and allowed 21.7 points per game. Lattimore had allowed a career-best 65.5 passer rating on throws in his direction to begin the season.

Lattimore initially joined the Saints as their 11th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He immediately slotted into a starting role with the team, nabbing five interceptions, breaking up 18 passes, and earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his sensational debut season. He has earned four Pro Bowls in his five previous seasons.
